Spoon Laid Dumplings (Kluski Kladzione)
Ingredients
- 2 cup sifted flour
- 2 whole egg
- 1 cup Buttermilk
Directions
- In a large bowl combine flour and eggs.
- Gradually add buttermilk while beating with wooden spoon until the
batter is smooth and thick yet flows slowly off the spoon.
- Using a teaspoon (or melon baller), immerse spoonfuls of batter in
slowly boiling water until all batter is used up. The dumplings should
be about 3/4" across.
- Don't worry if the water stops boiling for a minute or two when you
finish. Gently stir the water with the dumplings and wait till it
starts boiling again. Dumplings should be ready in about 3-5 minutes.
- Drain but do not rinse with tap water.
Notes
- If you use too much buttermilk the dumplings will disintegrate. So if
you need to add more do so sparingly.
- Should be eaten with meat sauce.
